Honey dew sweetened

As morning peeled dusk from the sky.

Autumn kissed oak trees

Stretched high, sneakily peaking

Through the window

Making us wake up to

Vibrant reds and muted yellows.

It smelled of chamomile and sweet grass

Making us be put back

Into our nightly slumber.

With the occasional movement and questions

Only being answered in the sound of sleep

We lay letting the sun

Coat our skin in its love

Just as we did with the moon hours ago…

Coating us with its curiosity.

In that moment there was no world,

Only two people who let

The night sky leave them behind

To stay with the morning.

Though through peaceful rest,

Even among the silence of the clouds

We wondered if it were possible to

Be loved and be free

all at once.

Maybe that is what we are feeling

At this very moment.
